Ken Saro-Wiwa’s son succumbs to Coronavirus in London

Menegian, a child of the late Ogoni environmental activist, Ken Saro-Wiwa, has passed away due to Coronavirus in a hospital in the United Kingdom.

The announcement of his death was made on Facebook by his sister, Noo, earlier today. She expressed:

”We bid farewell to my brother, Gian, on Monday. He had Covid-19 along with underlying health conditions. Gian was the most intelligent and talented among us all: a standout sprinter in school, a poet, an artist, aspiring engineer, a self-taught guitarist and pianist. However, he struggled with mental health issues that limited his life from the age of 16 onwards.
I captured this photo of him a few months ago before he was hospitalized. We were singing Hysteria by Def Leppard, a song we both adore. Despite the side-effects of medication altering his athletic physique, this photo still encapsulates Gian’s essence: a gentle and beautiful soul, always desiring the best for his family, perpetually praying for our future success while maintaining eternal optimism about his own. And, of course, always loving his music. He leaves behind a wonderful son, Louis.
(Menegian Saro-Wiwa, 1970-2020)”

He was 50 years old. May his soul rest in peace, Amen.
