Katsina State eases 24-hour curfew in Dutsinma LGA

The restriction of movement order which enforced a 24-hour curfew in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State and 33 other LGAs from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am has been lifted, as approved by the Acting Governor of Katsina State, Faruk Lawal on Monday.

Lawal decided to relax the curfew in Dutsinma following a positive report on improved security conditions in the area.

While emphasizing the continuing ban on gatherings and protests of any kind across the State, he commended the professional approach of the security forces in dealing with the troublemakers who exploited the peaceful protests for criminal acts.

Lawal expressed gratitude to parents, guardians, and community leaders for advising their children and youths against involvement in illicit activities.

In related news, the State Security Council disclosed the apprehension of several young individuals linked to recent violence, looting, and destruction of both public and private assets.

During a briefing after the council meeting, the Secretary to the Government of Katsina State, Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari, mentioned that some of the arrested individuals had been arraigned in court on charges including criminal conspiracy, public disturbances, vandalism, and theft.

Faskari urged the public to remain calm and adhere to the law, assuring that all efforts were being made to ensure the safety of lives and property.

It was earlier reported by NewsNow that in response to escalating violence during nationwide protests, Lawal had imposed a 24-hour curfew in Dutsinma LGA and a 12-hour curfew in the remaining 33 LGAs as a precautionary measure to restore peace.
