The Governor made this appeal during the official commissioning of the Funtua Inland Dry Port, which was carried out by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, on behalf of President Bola Tinubu in Funtua on Thursday.

Stressing the significance of the rail line for transportation, Governor Radda emphasized that its restoration would lower costs and streamline the movement of goods from the dry port.

He discussed how the port would positively impact the state and the national economy, as well as contribute to reducing insecurity by providing job opportunities for the youth.

Governor Radda also urged the federal government to expedite the development of the integrated textile and garment park in Funtua, emphasizing the project’s potential to rejuvenate the textile industry, create jobs, attract investments, and yield various other benefits.

Further highlighting the socio-economic importance of the dry port, Governor Radda underlined the necessity for the federal government to extend the AKK Gas pipeline project from Zaria to Funtua, with the aim of fostering industrial growth and overall economic development.

He mentioned his administration’s strategic economic plans, including the establishment of a State Enterprise Development Agency and an Economic Council dedicated to reshaping the state’s economy.

Regarding the operations at the port, Governor Radda urged regulatory agencies to demonstrate professionalism and cooperation to ensure efficiency.
