Kano To Investigate Cessation Of June Salaries for Government Employees

Kano State Head of Service, Alhaji Usman Bala, State Accountant General, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam  and the Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Baba Halilu Dantiye, have risen to clarify the  dispute surrounding the cessation of the salaries of 10,000 government employees in the state.

During a  media interaction at the office of the commissioner for information yesterday, the Head of Service explained that the decision to halt their salaries was appropriate and in accordance with civil service rules and regulations.

He announced the formation of a powerful committee  to thoroughly investigate the authenticity of their qualifications and employment process in the civil service, months before the former governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, left office.

Usman Bala stated that the government will resume payment for those who are cleared, specifically those who were rightly employed with authentic qualifications.

“Individuals who are unqualified or employed through fraudulent means to enter the service will be terminated because the state civil service will not tolerate any tarnishing of its reputation,” he said.

The accountant general expressed disappointment with the current developments in the state civil service.

He said; “The NNPP government led by Alhaji Abba K. Yusuf came in with renewed energy and determination to run a transparent government  and reform the civil service,  which is why those of us with financial management discipline took on the challenge of curbing the excesses of government officials when they exceed their authority or engage in corrupt practices that should be exposed to the public.”

The information commissioner delivered the governor’s sallah  message and expressed gratitude for the peaceful celebration in the state.
