Kaduna Community: Village Head Slain, House Burned by Gunmen

Tragedy struck in the village of Marke, Kaduna State, as suspected assassins brutally murdered the 30-year-old village head, Malam Kabiru Mohammed, in the Dandamisa Ward of Makarfi Local Government Area.

In a tense moment, Malam Kabiru Mohammed, who had been installed as the village head in 2018, managed to evade the gunmen’s initial approach by hiding in the ceiling of his house when they arrived around 12:30 am on Thursday.

The gunmen ruthlessly forced everyone out of the compound as they scoured for their targets, eventually discovering the village head and his elder brother, Tukur Mohammed, concealed in the ceiling. Tragically, the gunmen located Malam Kabiru Mohammed, mercilessly killed him, and then set the house ablaze.

An anonymous member of the community recounted the chilling ordeal, revealing that the village head’s body could not be retrieved due to the inferno that engulfed the house.

Aminu Sani Marke, the councilor of Dandamisa Ward, condemned the brutal act, highlighting that the gunmen pillaged the village for valuables worth millions of naira during their hour-long rampage.

Despite attempts to reach out to the Police Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna State Police Command, there was no response to calls or text messages regarding the tragic incident.
