June 29 to See the Return of Oshoba and Kejawa to the Ring

Elizabeth Oshoba, the World Boxing Council silver featherweight champion, and Oluwatosin Kejawa, the WBC African champion, are gearing up for their upcoming ring appearances on June 29 at the Brentwood Centre in Essex, UK as reported by PUNCH Sports Extra.

The announcement was made on Tuesday via Instagram by the British company, Top Tier Boxing Promotions. However, the names of their opponents have not been disclosed yet.

Oshoba is going into her second fight of 2024 on the Mentality Fight Night scheduled for June 29. Earlier this year, she made history as the first female Nigerian boxer to clinch a world title.

The 24-year-old claimed her maiden world title by knocking out Michela Braga of Italy (6-0-1) in the 10th round of their bout at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark, on January 13. This victory handed Braga her first professional loss and extended Oshoba’s unblemished professional record to seven wins, including four knockouts.

Oshoba’s triumph marked her second title within a span of three months. Before that, she secured the IBO female super-featherweight title on November 25, 2023, by defeating Martina Righi of Italy via unanimous decision.

Kejawa, on the other hand, is set for his first fight of 2024 at the same event. He was recently awarded the 2023 Neilson Boxing Fight of The Year alongside his opponent, Abdul Ubaya from Tanzania.

Kejawa and Ubaya squared off at the MECA Regent Circus in Swindon, UK, for the World Boxing Council Africa title on November 26, 2023.

Their encounter was a memorable one, with both combatants landing significant blows over 10 rounds. Despite sustaining a head injury, Kejawa secured a split decision victory, claiming the WBC Africa light-heavyweight title.

This match marked Kejawa’s 10th professional bout, maintaining his perfect record with 10 wins, including five knockouts. The 22-year-old exhibited remarkable determination and skill, attaining his first professional title in a significant milestone.

Bagging the Fight of The Year accolade was the perfect ending to a stellar 2023 for Kejawa, who also triumphed over Serhii Ksendzov and Darryl Sharp in March and October, respectively, before his win over Ubaya in December.

In anticipation of the upcoming fight, Kejawa shared with PUNCH Sports Extra, “I’m feeling good and ready. Training has been progressing well, and I have been honing my skills by sparring with talented boxers to prepare for the fight.”

With June 29 drawing near, both Oshoba and Kejawa are poised to stage significant comebacks, continuing their stellar careers and striving for further triumphs in the boxing ring.
