An announcement from the family of the late veteran actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, states that his burial will take place on June 28, 2024, in Amuri, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.
In a statement signed by the late actor’s brother, Sunday Okafor, it was mentioned, “The Okafor family in Eziokwe Amuri, Nkanu West LGA in Enugu State, aims to honor the cherished memory of our hero and legend, who, even in passing, has left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and vitality.
“We extend our heartfelt invitation for your presence as we lay to rest our son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and in-law on June 28, 2024.
“We welcome you to join us in commemorating the finest moments with our icon.”
The demise of the actor occurred on March 2, 2024, following a prolonged battle with illness.
In October 2023, Mr Ibu disclosed his struggle with diabetes, and a month later, a series of surgeries led to the amputation of his leg.
Subsequently, his family members turned to social media, seeking financial aid to settle his medical expenses. Generous contributions poured in from numerous Nigerians and organizations towards his treatment.
Yet, a dispute arose when certain members of the comic actor’s family accused each other of mishandling the funds donated by his supporters.
