Jilted husband allegedly kills Ekiti chief for 'snatching his wife '

The alleged murder of the Onibedo of Ilotin community in Ekiti State, Chief Sola Fatunla, has a shocking twist. A Tiv man named Sunday has been apprehended by the Ekiti State police in connection to the death of the 35-year-old chief. This comes after an apology from Sunday to the deceased, who had been wrongly accused of being involved with Sunday’s former wife, Tadeni. However, the tragic turn of events occurred when Fatunla accompanied Sunday to the bush.

While on their journey, Fatunla was killed, as Sunday allegedly conspired with others to abduct and subsequently murder the chief. This dreadful incident also saw Tadeni being abducted, but she managed to escape. The suspects were captured by vigilantes in the Pategi area of Kwara State as they were attempting to flee. It was during this capture that Sunday’s involvement in the crime was exposed through a phone call received on a phone he was carrying.

The police in Kwara State then transferred Sunday and his accomplices to Ekiti State, where they are currently being held in custody. The remains of Chief Fatunla have been recovered and stored in the mortuary. This distressing case has stunned the community and sparked an intense investigation by authorities.
