Jail Term for Pedestrian Who Crossed Highway and Assaulted an Official

A man named Paul has been sentenced to nine months in jail by the mobile court in Oshodi. His crime involved not using a pedestrian bridge and assaulting an official of the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps.

The State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, shared this information in a post on X on Thursday.

Wahab stated, “Paul was caught on April 16 for bypassing the pedestrian bridge at Agbado Oke Odo. During the incident, he attacked and injured a LAGESC enforcement personnel.”

“Yesterday, the mobile court in Oshodi sentenced him to nine months behind bars.”

Additionally, the state government apprehended and prosecuted 76 individuals on Monday for disregarding pedestrian bridges in the Ojota, Ladipo, and Oshodi regions.

Wahab revealed, “Today, 76 individuals were captured at Ojota, Ladipo, and Oshodi for avoiding the pedestrian bridge. They have been taken to court for legal action.”

The ministry had previously cautioned residents against bypassing pedestrian bridges, emphasizing that pedestrians crossing major highways in the state is punishable.
