‘It’s skit’ – Nigerian man pleads for understanding after airport incident

A recent revelation from the husband of Mrs. Favour Igiebor sheds new light on the widely reported incident where his international passport was allegedly torn at the airport.

In a viral video that circulated, the man clarified that the incident was actually part of a scripted skit.

In a new video posted on the family’s Instagram account, the man appealed to Nigerians for empathy and forgiveness.

He explained, “What you saw being torn was not a passport. My wife did not tear my passport. It’s all part of a skit based on a real story. We never intended for it to go viral.”

“I humbly request everyone’s understanding. My passport is safe and untouched. Let’s not misconstrue this situation,” he added.

“We deeply apologize and reaffirm our respect for Nigerian laws. We are law-abiding citizens and would never engage in any act that violates the sanctity of the Nigerian passport,” he stressed.

Following the initial uproar, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) initiated a formal inquiry into the matter.

The now-infamous video captured Mrs. Igiebor apparently destroying her husband’s Nigerian Standard Passport at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.
