Italy Witnesses Newlyweds Exchanging Kisses Through Protective Masks at Their Wedding

Despite the escalating cases and fatalities from the coronavirus in Italy, a couple decided to proceed with their wedding.

Diego Fernandes, 46, and Deni Salgado, 30, exchanged vows on Friday with only a few witnesses due to the ban on public gatherings implemented to curb the spread of the virus.

In one of the photos, the newlyweds could be seen sharing a kiss while wearing protective masks to commemorate their special day in Naples.

Italy surpassed China on Thursday as the country with the highest number of deaths from the highly contagious virus. The death toll spiked by 627 in a single day, reaching a total of 4,032.

According to the Civil Protection Agency, the total number of cases in Italy stands at 47,021. The hardest-hit Lombardy region in the north is in a critical state, with 2,549 deaths and 22,264 cases.
