Israeli Soldiers Suffer Heavy Loss in Gaza Attack, IDF Reports

Reports confirm that a tragic incident in southern Gaza has resulted in the loss of at least eight Israeli soldiers.

On Saturday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) faced one of their most devastating events since October 7, according to official statements.

As part of an operation targeting “terrorist infrastructure” in northern Tal al-Sultan, an explosion struck an armored vehicle carrying soldiers within a convoy around 5:15 a.m. local time, as detailed by the IDF.

IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari shared this information in a press briefing, revealing the grim details of the attack.

Hagari explained, “Based on the current information available, it appears that one of the engineering vehicles within the convoy was impacted by an explosion, likely caused by either planted explosive devices or fire from anti-tank missiles.”

An ongoing investigation is looking into the possibility of additional explosives within the vehicle contributing to the magnitude of the explosion.

“The current evaluation suggests that the ‘Nemera’ armored vehicle was targeted by a roadside bomb explosion. Furthermore, the vehicle was equipped with engineering tools containing explosive materials,” Hagari added.

“The explosion was substantial and could have been triggered by the detonation of these onboard explosives. Such an occurrence was not anticipated, prompting a thorough examination of the incident.”
