On Tuesday, northern Israel faced an assault as militants from Lebanon launched six unmanned aerial vehicles, which resulted in fire and destruction.
The Israeli military confirmed that only one of the drones was successfully intercepted by the country’s Aerial Defense Array.
In a statement, the military reported that one of the drones detonated near the Yiftah community along the Israel-Lebanon border, causing a fire.
Several other drones caused minimal damage, with fortunately no casualties being reported, according to the Israeli military.
Hezbollah, an armed Lebanese group and political party engaged in border conflicts with Israel since October 7, 2023, was identified by Israel’s state-owned Kan TV news as the perpetrator behind the drone launch.
Lebanese military sources disclosed that Israel’s F-15 warplanes intercepted multiple drones flying at low altitudes from Lebanon towards northern Israel.
Hezbollah’s military wing, the Islamic Resistance, claimed responsibility for targeting Israeli officers and soldiers at the Yiftah barracks with the drones, resulting in damages to an Iron Dome platform at the Ramot Naftali Barracks.
These drone attacks were in retaliation to Israeli troops firing at Aalma El Chaab in southern Lebanon, followed by Israeli airstrikes targeting a Hezbollah military site and infrastructure in the Mazraat Aaqmata area.
Reports from the National News Agency, NNA, revealed that Lebanese Labor Minister Moustafa Bayram stated the Israeli assaults led to damage to approximately 3,000 business establishments in southern Lebanon.
Bayram announced plans to seek financial assistance for those impacted by the Israeli attacks from the Arab Labor Organization and Arab member states once hostilities cease.
