Iran’s Reacts Strongly to Expected EU Sanctions

Iranian Foreign Minister, Hussein Amirabdollahian, has denounced the anticipated sanctions being considered against his country in the wake of the recent drone and missile strike on Israel, labeling them as unacceptable and unfortunate.

Expressing his discontent, Amirabdollahian, in a post on his social media account, reiterated that Iran’s actions were in self-defense, emphasizing the need for sanctions to be directed towards Israel instead.

During a gathering in Luxembourg, the foreign ministers of the 27 EU member nations directed EU’s top diplomat, Josep Borrell, to present specific recommendations for punitive measures.

Furthermore, there are contemplations to impose sanctions on individuals, organizations, and entities involved in the manufacturing and supply of drones and missiles to Iran’s allies in the Middle East.

The decision comes as a response to Iran’s unprecedented direct missile attack on Israel a week and a half ago, which was preceded by an alleged Israeli assault on the Iranian embassy in Damascus earlier in the month.

In the prior incident, casualties included two generals and five other members of the powerful Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).

In retaliation, Israel conducted a strike in Isfahan province, reportedly targeting an airbase.
