Investigation Launched by Police After Crossdresser’s Body Found in Abuja

An order for an investigation into the death of an unidentified individual dressed in women’s clothing on an Abuja road has been issued by the Federal Capital Territory Commissioner of Police, Bennett Igweh. The directive came on Thursday.

In a statement from the command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, it was revealed that the police responded to a distress call reporting the discovery of a body along the Katampe-Mabushi expressway. Detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Initial investigations conducted by the detectives indicated that the deceased was a man clad in female attire and devoid of any form of identification.

The individual was swiftly transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Adeh stated, “Following receipt of a distress call at the Command Control Room on 08/08/2024 at approximately 07:40 AM, regarding an unidentified person lying unresponsive along the Katampe – Mabushi expressway, a team of detectives was promptly dispatched to the location.

“Preliminary inquiries showed that the individual was a man dressed in women’s clothing and without any identifying documents. He was expeditiously taken to Maitama District Hospital where attending physicians confirmed his demise.”

It was mentioned that Igweh mandated a discreet probe to uncover the circumstances leading to the individual’s death.

Adeh added, “The Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP, has immediately called for a comprehensive and clandestine investigation to shed light on the events surrounding the demise. Further updates will be shared in due course.”
