Lionel Messi, the captain of Inter Miami, expressed his happiness after securing his first trophy with the club on Saturday.
With Messi leading the way, Inter Miami emerged victorious in the Leagues Cup final after a thrilling penalty shootout at Geodis Park.
In the first half, the Argentina captain broke the deadlock with a remarkable long-range shot.
However, Fafa Picault canceled out Messi’s goal in the second half by scoring from close range, resulting in a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes.
Inter Miami ultimately clinched the Leagues Cup with a 10-9 penalty triumph.
Messi successfully converted his penalty during the shootout.
In response to the win, Messi took to his Instagram account, expressing his hope that the Leagues Cup victory would mark the start of numerous future triumphs for Inter Miami.
