Instagram accessibility denied for Turkish citizens

In response to increased tensions in the Middle East Region, Turkey has decided to block its citizens from using the Instagram social media platform.

Without providing any specific reasons, the national communications authority of Turkey made the announcement.

Confirmation of this action was reported by The Speculator Index.

This move follows accusations of censorship against the US company made by a senior Turkish official.

According to a post on the BTK communications authority website, the decision to block access to “instagram.com” was made on the date of 02/08/2024.

Fahrettin Altun, the communications director for the Turkish presidency, criticized Instagram on Wednesday, alleging that the platform was hindering people from sharing messages of condolence for the late Haniyeh.

“This is a blatant and deliberate act of censorship,” Altun stated in an interview on X.
