Insight into Tinubu’s Concerns from Nigeria’s Finance Minister Edun Ahead of August 1 Protest

During a press briefing in Abuja, Minister of Finance Wale Edun revealed President Bola Ahmed’s primary worry regarding the upcoming August 1, 2024, protest – protecting the achievements of the government over the past 15 months.

Edun emphasized the President’s focus on ensuring that the protests are peaceful to maintain the economic progress Nigeria has been experiencing.

He highlighted that Tinubu is fully aware of the concerns of the Nigerian populace and is actively engaged in finding sustainable solutions.

“President Bola Ahmed is particularly concerned about the need for the protests to remain peaceful and orderly, to sustain the progress made in the economy over the past 12 to 15 months. It is crucial to keep the momentum of Nigeria’s economic growth intact,” stated Edun.

“I believe that, like many other patriotic Nigerians, the President truly empathizes with the issues raised, especially the challenges posed by the high cost of living, which is currently detrimental to Nigeria’s development,” he added.

The minister’s remarks came shortly before the scheduled nationwide protest on August 1.
