Insight into the Paris 2024 Olympics Loss to France, According to D’Tigress Head Coach, Wakama

Rena Wakama, the head coach of D’Tigress, has acknowledged that her team did not perform at their peak in the match against France.

The African champions suffered a disappointing 75-54 defeat to the host country in their second group match in the women’s basketball competition at the 2024 Olympic Games on Thursday.

Expectations were high for D’Tigress following their impressive victory against Australia in the initial game on Monday.

However, the West African team was thoroughly outclassed by the French in this encounter.

According to Wakama, as cited by FIBA.com, “We didn’t execute our game plan; we were not ourselves. The elements that contributed to our win on Monday were missing today.”

She added, “It’s a challenging task when you allow the opposition to shoot at a 63 percent accuracy inside the paint.

“Defeating any team becomes difficult; we need to revert to our usual style of play.”

D’Tigress will take on Canada in their final group stage match on Sunday.
