In Niger, Etsu Nupe, religious leaders, and farmers unite in prayer for rainfall

Coming together on Thursday, the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, joined by traditional and religious leaders and farmers in Bida Emirate, sought divine intervention for abundant rainfall and a prosperous harvest.

Gathering at the Eid prayer ground in Esso, Bida, they fervently prayed for plentiful rainfall and a bountiful harvest not only in the emirate but also in Niger State and the entire nation.

The community, facing a halt in rainfall, expressed concerns about a potential drought and poor harvests, prompting the residents to offer special prayers in unison.

After the special prayers, the Etsu Nupe emphasized the importance of seeking forgiveness and mercy from Allah during times of adversity.

Highlighting the Islamic teachings on repentance and seeking divine mercy in challenging times, he expressed hope that their prayers would be answered, bringing blessings of rain and prosperity to sustain their livelihoods.

Encouraging his subjects to uphold moral values, repent sincerely, and adhere to Islamic principles, the monarch called for a return to righteousness.

In his sermon, Sheikh Adamu Liman-Yakatun, the Chief Imam of Bida Emirate, attributed droughts and calamities to various factors such as unfulfilled promises, unjust killings, and unethical practices by some traders and service providers.

He concluded the prayers by supplicating for abundant rain to support farmers, end the prevailing hardships in communities across Nigeria, and emphasized the importance of fearing God in daily endeavors.

Furthermore, he urged leaders to exhibit sincerity in their dealings and provide essential humanitarian aid to their subjects.
