In his first interview following the acquittal, Kyle Rittenhouse asserts that his case was not about race

After being found not guilty on all charges in a highly publicized murder trial, Kyle Rittenhouse sat down with Tucker Carlson for an exclusive interview.

Rittenhouse emphasized that the case had “nothing to do with race” in a preview of the interview set to air on Monday at 8 p.m. ET.

Kyle Rittenhouse says his case had ?nothing to do with race? in first interview after acquittal

“This case has nothing to do with race. It never had anything to do with race. It had to do with the right to self-defense,” Rittenhouse stated in a clip released over the weekend.

“I’m not a racist person. I support the BLM movement. I support peacefully demonstrating. I believe there needs to be change,” Rittenhouse continued. “I believe there’s a lot of prosecutorial misconduct, not just in my case but in other cases. It’s just amazing to see how much a prosecutor can take advantage of someone.”

Rittenhouse, a resident of Illinois, was accused of murdering two people and wounding another during riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin, following the police-involved shooting of Jacob Blake.

The defense successfully argued that Rittenhouse acted in self-defense.

During the interview, Rittenhouse also recounted the moment when he was attacked at gunpoint.

“I tell everybody there what happened. I said I had to do it. I was just attacked. I was dizzy, I was vomiting, I couldn’t breathe,” Rittenhouse said.

Rittenhouse will also be featured in a “Tucker Carlson Originals” documentary on Fox Nation set to premiere in December, which will include additional portions of the interview and exclusive behind-the-scenes access to Rittenhouse and his defense team
