Important Update: Security Measures in Place for Bauchi LG Election

With the upcoming local government council elections scheduled for tomorrow in Bauchi on Saturday, August 17, 2024, the State Police Command has implemented security protocols to safeguard citizens across the 5,013 polling units in the state.

In collaboration with other security agencies, the command has strategically stationed personnel at critical points throughout the state.

As detailed in a statement by SP Mohammed Wakil, the command’s spokesperson, there will be restrictions on vehicular movement from 7 am to 4 pm on Saturday to ensure public order and minimize disruptions during the election. However, exemptions will be made for essential services like medical staff, journalists, and emergency responders.

Despite the potential inconvenience, the command urges all eligible voters to adhere to these regulations and participate in the election proceedings without hesitation.

The statement also warns that any attempts by individuals or groups to disturb the peaceful conduct of the election will be met with swift and resolute action.

Additionally, Wakil emphasized that Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa Muhammad has called upon parents, traditional leaders, religious figures, opinion influencers, and guardians to discourage their wards and followers from engaging in any form of disturbance before, during, or after the election.

A stern message was sent to all criminal elements in the state to cease activities that jeopardize public safety, with a clear declaration that law enforcement agencies will swiftly and effectively deal with any violators according to the law.
