Illegal Occupants of Housing Estates in Ogun State Given Quit Notice

The Ogun State Housing Corporation has instructed illegal occupants in its housing estates across the state to vacate within seven days and remove any unauthorized structures.

During a recent development control and enforcement exercise at Idiroko Housing Estate in Ipokia Local Government, the General Manager of the Corporation, Wale Ojo, made this announcement.

Referring to section 7 (1) of the Ogun State Housing Corporation Law 2006, Ojo stated that the notice was issued to ensure compliance with approved plans, prevent inappropriate use of land, and verify that developments align with the layout design, among other objectives.

Ojo cautioned that failure to adhere to the Corporation’s directive would result in demolishing the structures, prosecuting the occupants, and holding them accountable for the removal costs of their illegal constructions.

Additionally, the Corporation’s Director of Survey, Bunmi Oladeinde-Oluwakemi, highlighted the agency’s responsibility to identify non-compliant structures and emphasized that occupants could present documents or complaints before any demolition begins.

Oladeinde-Oluwakemi urged residents to seek guidance from appropriate government authorities before purchasing property in the state.

The Chairman of Ifeloju Community Development Association in Idiroko Ikolaje, Chief Babatunde Taiwo, representing the estate’s residents, committed to complying with the Corporation’s directive and requested an extension of the notice period.
