Ilaro Polytechnic suspends SUG President arrested during cult meeting

The President of the Students Union Government [SUG] at the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Ogun State, Adegboye Olatunji, has been suspended by the institution’s management following his arrest during a cult meeting. Olatunji, who was reportedly in the full regalia of the black axe confraternity, was taken into custody alongside another individual, Olarewaju Taiwo, during the initiation of new members into the cult. Following public alerts, the police intervened and made the arrests.

In response to the arrest, the institution’s Deputy Registrar Public Relations, Sola Abiola, announced on Monday, February 10, that the suspended SUG President has been indefinitely suspended due to his alleged involvement in cultism. Sola stated that the suspension is in accordance with the Polytechnic’s regulations and the provision of the Students Handbook, as well as the institution’s zero tolerance for cultism. The statement also mentioned that Olatunji’s appearance before the Students Disciplinary Committee is pending to establish his culpability or innocence.
