Lagos Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat Advocates Against Ethnic Bigotry Amid “Igbomustgo” Threat

Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, strongly criticized the anti-Igbo sentiment, emphasizing that there is no place for ethnic discrimination within the state.

During an appearance on the Arise TV Programme, ‘The Morning Show’, Hamzat highlighted the government’s efforts to engage and involve young people from various sectors in shaping the country’s affairs.

He emphasized the ongoing commitment of the state government to communicate and collaborate with the youth, aiming to work together towards common goals and initiatives.

Expressing disapproval of the recent “Igbomustgo#” campaign on social media, attributed to “Lagospedia” on X (formerly known as Twitter), the Deputy Governor reaffirmed Lagos State’s stance against ethnic bigotry.

He reassured that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration is focused on maintaining the peaceful coexistence of individuals from diverse backgrounds in Lagos, denouncing attempts by unidentified individuals to sow seeds of division.

Hamzat condemned the divisive rhetoric, stressing that Lagos has a long history of peaceful multiculturalism, and the government remains committed to upholding this unity.

He underscored the initiatives implemented by the current administration to empower youth and harness their potential, including sponsoring individuals to observe best practices in various countries.

Furthermore, Hamzat emphasized the government’s infrastructure projects, particularly the completion of the blue and red rail lines, essential for enhancing transportation within the state.

He also reiterated the administration’s dedication to boosting local agricultural production, aiming to stimulate economic growth, tackle food price inflation, and ensure food security.
