Ian Wright is puzzled by Ten Hag’s decision to sub Bruno Fernandes as Man Utd captain

An interesting turn of events in the EPL as Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, expressed his bewilderment at Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag’s tactical move to sub captain Bruno Fernandes in their recent Premier League loss to Brighton.

The match saw Brighton emerging victorious with a 2-1 win over Man United, courtesy of goals from Danny Welbeck and Joao Pedro.

Towards the end of the game, Ten Hag made the surprising decision to replace Fernandes with Scott McTominay, leaving Wright scratching his head.

Speaking on the Wrighty’s House podcast, Wright voiced out his confusion, saying, “A lot of things happened in that game that I just couldn’t understand or see happening.”

He questioned the manager’s choice, stating, “Like I can’t understand why he took Bruno off and went so defensive. Why are you taking him off?”

Wright also highlighted Fernandes’ reaction, noting, “When he [Bruno Fernandes] ran off, he was actually smiling and laughing. He was like, ‘what the f***? I can’t believe this guy.’
