‘I will meet my death if I set foot in Nigeria,’ says David Hundeyin

Nigerian investigative journalist, David Hundeyin, asserts that he would be met with death if he were to return to his home country.

The fugitive journalist claims that he is being targeted by the federal government for exposing sensitive information.

Hundeyin goes on to state that the Nigerian government sent a letter to Ghanaian authorities requesting his extradition after he revealed “internal communication within the Nigerian military ordering the mobilization of troops to Sokoto in preparation for operations in the Niger Republic.”

He alleges that a plane was dispatched to Ghana to bring him back to Nigeria, but by that time, he had already escaped the country.

These claims were made during a recent interview on The REN Experience podcast.

Hundeyin remarks, “I have written stories of high-risk nature that I cannot think of any Nigerian journalist, alive or deceased, who has attempted… Well, maybe Dele Giwa. He paid for it with his life. He received a letter bomb and died. And that was one such story. I have covered several.”

“So, there is a valid reason why I cannot return to Nigeria. If I were to set foot in Nigeria, I would undoubtedly meet my death. That is a fact. I will die.”
