Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has made a shocking claim denying the presence of COVID-19 in his system and expressing his belief that individuals desiring him to contract the virus will instead acquire HIV. The Governor made this declaration in a video that he shared on his Facebook page. The rumors of his COVID-19 status were amplified by reports that Chief of Staff to President Buhari, Abba Kyari, who tested positive for the virus, had recently visited Kogi state and had physical contact with Governor Bello during an event. Governor Bello further asserted that he is under the protective care of God and his mother’s spirit. In addition, he boldly stated his conviction that the COVID-19 pandemic will be resolved within 21 days. Furthermore, the Governor cast doubt on the sincerity of the global response to the pandemic, claiming that 90% of the discourse related to COVID-19 is motivated by political, economic, and financial interests.
