House of Representatives members donate March, April salaries for the fight against Coronavirus

The House of Representatives members have come together to donate their salaries for the months of March and April to support the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria. This decision was announced by the Speaker, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila.

The Speaker stated that the two-month salary donation is separate from individual lawmakers’ contributions to assist their constituents during this national emergency. The donations will be directly transferred to the National Relief Fund account for the fight against COVID-19, starting from the March salary.

In a video message addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, Gbajabiamila highlighted the commitment of the House of Representatives to contribute one hundred per cent of their salaries for the next two months to support the fight against COVID-19 in Nigeria. The contributions will be directed towards the welfare of frontline medical professionals, health workers, and interventions to ensure the well-being of all Nigerians during these challenging times.

The Speaker also emphasized that the House will ensure proper oversight of all emergency funds and contributions to guarantee they are utilized for their intended purposes.
