Hollywood legend Kirk Douglas dies aged 103

The iconic figure of Hollywood, Kirk Douglas, has passed away at the age of 103 on February 5, 2020. His son Michael Douglas announced the news, saying, “It is with tremendous sadness that my brothers and I announce that Kirk Douglas left us today at the age of 103. To the world, he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of movies who lived well into his golden years, a humanitarian whose commitment to justice and the causes he believed in set a standard of us all to aspire to.”

Michael also expressed his personal sentiments about his father, “But to me and my brothers Joel and Peter he was simply Dad, to Catherine, a wonderful father-in-law, to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren their loving grandfather, and to his wife Anne, a wonderful husband.”

Kirk Douglas, best known for his role in the 1960 classic “Spartacus,” had a successful career spanning over six decades. He earned critical acclaim for his acting and received multiple Oscar nominations for both his acting and producing work. Moreover, he also engaged in humanitarian activities and served as a Goodwill Ambassador for the U.S. State Department.

Kirk Douglas is survived by his wife Anne, aged 100, children Michael Douglas, Joel, and Peter, and seven grandchildren. His life and legacy will be remembered in the history of cinema and beyond.
