Heightened Security Measures Implemented Around Kaduna Government House

Following the recent #EndbadGovernance protest that turned violent in Kaduna, the road leading to the Government House in the state capital has been barricaded by the Kaduna State Police Command.

A joint team of security personnel, including the police, civil defence, and state vigilance service members, set up blockades along the Government House road to prevent unauthorized access by miscreants and to protect surrounding areas.

Authorities have issued warnings to parents and guardians to ensure their children do not disrupt public peace during protests, emphasizing the seriousness of such actions.

In a statement on Friday, the state police spokesman, Mansir Hassan, advised protest groups to coordinate with the Commissioner of Police for peaceful demonstrations.

Hassan highlighted that the protest was infiltrated by troublemakers attempting to breach the Government House, resulting in injuries to two police officers and damage to a police armored vehicle.

As the protest extended into its second day on Friday, major roads, including the typically busy Ahmadu Bello Way in the Central Business District, remained deserted with minimal traffic.

Many residents opted to stay indoors due to uncertainties, while public transportation services operated at reduced capacity.

Numerous shops and businesses along Junction Road and Ahmadu Bello Way closed their premises as traders refrained from engaging in business activities.

Our correspondent observed an increased deployment of security personnel at critical locations across the state, especially at city centers like the Stadium Roundabout, Katsina Road Roundabout, and the NEPA Roundabout where the peaceful protest turned violent on Thursday.

According to PUNCH Online, more than 25,000 security officers comprising police, military, and other units were dispatched to key areas and potential flashpoints to uphold order and safeguard both citizens and protesters advocating against governance malpractices in the country.
