A deeply touching story has been shared by a man who came close to ending his own life after being instructed to repeat a class.
After completing his junior secondary education, @Crosseyednerd was advised to focus on Commercial Studies due to his strengths. Unfortunately, his father disagreed and insisted on him pursuing a science-based curriculum.
Succumbing to his father’s wishes marked the beginning of his academic struggles. His performance deteriorated to the extent that he was required to repeat SS1.
To exacerbate the situation, the family was experiencing financial hardship at the time and relied heavily on his mother’s modest teacher’s salary. The prospect of repeating a class meant that the initial investment in his education would have been futile. Angered by this, his mother scolded and physically disciplined him for being a disgrace to the family.
Left alone when his mother left for work, he attempted to take his own life. Thankfully, his sisters intervened just in time to save him.
Upon learning of the incident, his mother was deeply moved and called him for a conversation. She decided to enroll him in the Arts class and arranged for a private tutor despite her meager income.
Today, the Twitter user proudly reflects on his two degrees, numerous certifications, and a job that brings him joy.
