Head of Civil Service highlights critical phase of civil service reform

In a statement on Friday, Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, emphasized the ongoing substantial reforms within the civil service aimed at improving efficiency and effectiveness.

She mentioned that these reforms, including the integration of new technologies, have now entered a pivotal stage.

Yemi-Esan addressed attendees at the Jumat service held as part of the civil service week activities in Abuja.

Delivered by Dr. Sanni Gwarzo, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Police Affairs, she stated that the Nigerian populace would soon witness a digital civil service transformation.

She expressed, “This year marks a significant milestone with multifaceted blessings. The civil service has taken decisive strides in the direction of reform, and I am pleased to announce that we are at a critical juncture in this process.

“It is an opportune moment to celebrate the achievements attained thus far. Additionally, Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda has steered the civil service reform in alignment with these renewed aspirations.”

“We are transitioning into a digital era, where a digital civil service will soon become a reality.”

Yemi-Esan noted that a delegation was dispatched to study the civil service model in Singapore, asserting that progress in Nigeria’s reform journey is commendable.

She highlighted, “Nigeria is indeed fortunate. As the civil service evolves, we stand ready to provide our support towards the realization of Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Moreover, in recent years, many senior civil servants from Nigeria have embarked on educational trips worldwide to explore diverse civil service frameworks.”

“Recently, a delegation returned from Singapore after a remarkable learning experience. Our observations from diverse systems attest that we are making significant strides in our reform initiatives.”
