When music originates from real-life experiences, it possesses an unparalleled power, and that’s precisely what makes TVKU’s (@tvkuthesag) story so compelling. In a recent interview, he shared the following firsthand account:
Interviewer: “I heard your girlfriend cheated on you in the most horrific way. But what’s even crazier is how you FOUND OUT? Tell me how this all relates to your music”
TVKU: “I always thought I didn’t care or that it didn’t bother me when it came to romance, because truthfully I never fully gave my heart away to anyone. But as I grew older, I realized that wasn’t the case. For some reason, I felt empty, like a hollow-hearted person. I was devoid of emotion.
Relationships could never ‘fill me up,’ so I turned to music to fill the void. As time passed and I matured, I finally found a woman I fell in love with. And boy, did I fall HARD!
One Thursday night, I received a call from her at an unusual hour, 10:22pm. This was strange as she was usually asleep at that time. Upon answering the call, I quickly realized it was an accidental ‘butt dial’.
On the other end, I overheard the unimaginable. She was making explicit sounds, indicating that she was being intimate with someone else, and I listened on in shock before she abruptly hung up.
My heart felt hollow again, or rather, even worse. It turned pitch black. Since that incident, I unintentionally hurt most women who entered my life because I simply couldn’t invest emotionally in them as they did in me. Was it fear? Disgust towards all women? A profound distrust?
Truth be told, I still don’t have the answer. I’m not perfect and I’m still striving to change. My journey is a roller coaster of emotions that anyone can relate to through my work. My name is Tvku.
