The plans to launch a new charitable organization named Archewell have been revealed by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The organization is aimed at “to do something that matters”.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle expressed their anticipation for the foundation, which will replace their Sussex Royal brand post their step down as senior royals. According to Sky News, they intend to incorporate their own charity as well as a website.
The couple disclosed that their son Archie’s name was inspired by the Greek word “Arche”, signifying “source of action.”
The launch of their new organization, initially reported in the Daily Telegraph, has faced delays due to the coronavirus pandemic.
An announcement with further details about the organization will be made “when the time is right,” stated the couple.
They are contemplating the creation of their own charity and volunteering services following the reported filing of paperwork for their new brand in the US last month.
The couple also intends to include a comprehensive website and to share “education and training materials” through films, podcasts, and books, according to the newspaper.
In response to the report, Harry and Meghan stated that their focus is on supporting efforts to tackle the global COVID-19 pandemic but they felt “compelled” to reveal the details of their venture.
“Like you, our focus is on supporting efforts to tackle the global COVID-19 pandemic but faced with this information coming to light, we felt compelled to share the story of how this came to be.
“Before Sussex Royal came the idea of Arche – the Greek word meaning source of action.
They continued, “Archewell is a name that combines an ancient word for strength and action, and another that evokes the deep resources we each must draw upon.
“We look forward to launching Archewell when the time is right.”
Reacting to the report about Harry and Meghan’s new charity organization, Piers Morgan, an English TV host known for criticizing Meghan Markle, tweeted: “Total number of f*cks the British public give about these two announcing their ‘plans’ from Hollywood right now: 0.”
