Hadiza, Governor El-Rufai’s wife, acknowledges her son Bello’s threatening tweets towards a Twitter user with sexual abuse after defending him

After being called out for defending her son in a recent controversy, Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s wife, Hadiza, has admitted that her son Bello threatened a Twitter user with sexual abuse.

Earlier, Bello had directed ethnic slurs at some Twitter users and also threatened to pass on a Twitter user’s mother to his friends in a heated exchange.

Upon commenting on the issue, Hadiza defended her son by stating her belief in “respecting everyone but taking no nonsense from anyone.” She also maintained that she did not perceive any rape threats in Bello’s tweet.

In response to the public backlash over her initial tweet, perceived as support for her son, she has now posted a follow-up tweet. Hadiza expressed that she initially thought it was just the typical Twitter back-and-forth until she read Bello’s tweets in chronological order.

The Kaduna State First Lady also disclosed that she has had a conversation with Bello, emphasizing that sexual abuse should never be used as a weapon in public or private exchanges, regardless of the circumstances.

She tweeted;

When I posted the tweet below, I assumed it was just the usual Twitter gbas-gbos. Having read the tweets chronologically, I have had conversations with Bello. Never ever should sexual abuse be employed as ammunition in public/ private exchanges, no matter the provocation.
