The tragic incident that occurred on Friday morning in Imo State has left the entire community in shock and panic. Unknown gunmen attacked and killed five policemen and a couple at the Okpala Junction in the Ngor Okpala Local Government Area. The victims, Mr. and Mrs. Chinaka Nwagu, had relocated from Lagos just a year ago.
According to a witness named Uche, the policemen were targeted while eating at the junction. The gunmen arrived at the scene and opened fire, resulting in the deaths of the officers and the couple who owned the shop where some of the policemen sought refuge.
The assailants also made off with the policemen’s rifles after the attack. The community is reeling from the tragedy, with commercial activities coming to a halt and residents fleeing out of fear and shock.
Another witness, Dominic Okpor, described the scene as he drove through the Owerri – Aba Road, where he saw the lifeless bodies of the policemen lying on the road, along with their parked Hilux vehicle.
The incident has deeply affected the community, leaving everyone in disbelief and mourning. An accompanying graphic video further highlights the devastating nature of the attack.
