Reports confirm that gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted an Anglican cleric, Venerable Olu Obanla and his son in Ondo State. 

 

The unfortunate incident took place along Ifon/Okeluse road in Ose Local Government Area of the state on Saturday, May 21. 

 

Witnesses disclosed that the perpetrators stopped the victims’ vehicle, forcibly removed them from their car, and took them into the forest, abandoning the vehicle. 

 

According to a family source, the kidnappers contacted the victims’ family, demanding a ransom of N10m. 

 

However, the family managed to gather N1million, but the kidnappers refused to accept it.

 

“Venerable Olu Obanla and his son were kidnapped yesterday (Saturday) on their way to Okeluse in Ondo State,” the source explained. 

 

“The kidnappers have contacted the family and are demanding a ransom of N10million, but the family was able to raise N1million, which the kidnappers rejected.”

 

Funmilayo Odunlami, the spokesperson of the State Police Command, confirmed the incident and mentioned that the detectives are making efforts to rescue the victims.
