Greece plans to welcome tourists into the country this summer amid Coronavirus pandemic

The Government of Greece has announced plans to open its doors to tourists this summer despite the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. The Greek tourism minister, Harry Theocharis, has reassured travelers that Greece will be welcoming visitors while enforcing social distancing rules to ensure their safety. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has also indicated a gradual easing of lockdown measures, with restrictions on citizens’ movements set to be lifted and more shops allowed to reopen from May 4.

Theocharis expressed Greece’s desire to continue its tradition of hospitality for tourists, emphasizing the country’s safety and the implementation of precautionary measures for travelers. He also mentioned the potential requirement for travelers to undergo a coronavirus test before entering Greece, acknowledging the need for advanced health technology to facilitate safer travel practices amidst the pandemic.

With 2,566 confirmed cases, 577 recoveries, and 138 deaths as of April 29, Greece is preparing to welcome tourists while prioritizing their health and well-being.
