Governor Yusuf Warns of Politicians’ Plot to Disrupt Peace in Kano through Protest

The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has sounded the alarm regarding a conspiracy by certain undisclosed politicians to exploit the upcoming August 1 protest in an attempt to sow chaos in the region.

Yusuf, speaking on Wednesday, revealed that his administration has discovered a scheme orchestrated by self-serving politicians to utilize the protest as a cover for causing disorder.

“We stand prepared to engage with protestors in a peaceful dialogue within the Government House. I am not one to retreat; they can bring forth their grievances, and alongside my associates, we will approach President Tinubu and present our stance,” stated the governor.

He urged the Federal Government to promptly reevaluate fuel and electricity prices and facilitate the opening of borders for the importation of goods into the nation.

Yusuf further implored the government to lower the expenses of essential goods and services to alleviate the burden on Nigerians.

“Allow me to remind you that upon assuming office, we dedicated efforts to restore the peace that was previously disrupted in the state,” he remarked.

“We have brought to light the intentions of some dissatisfied individuals and politicians to procure red caps and distribute them to hooligans for use during the protest, leading to looting and loss of innocent lives,” he added.

The governor outlined plans for introducing a price control bureau in the state to ensure price stability and uniformity in the sale of goods.

He affirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing the livelihoods of the ordinary citizens, highlighting the reinstatement of Public Suggestion Boxes to directly receive input from the public.
