Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged the Super Eagles to emerge victorious in the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF African Cup of Nations tournament. He believes that a win for the Eagles would have a positive impact on the Nigerian citizens, especially during these challenging times marked by economic crises, including the effects of fuel subsidy removal.

The governor, speaking at a special dinner hosted for the team at the Lagos House, Marina, before their departure to Cote d’Ivoire for the AFCON tournament, emphasized the importance of determination and team spirit in winning competitions. He also highlighted the unifying role of the team and the support of over 220 million Nigerians, urging the players to demonstrate their undying spirit as representatives of the country.

He encouraged the players not to give up, emphasizing the value of perseverance and belief in oneself until the final whistle blows.

The Governor’s charge was delivered in the presence of important dignitaries including the Minister of Sports, Senator John Enoh, and the Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau.
