Governor Sani criticizes protest organizers for not taking the lead and allowing underprivileged children to lead instead

The governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, has accused the organizers of the EndBadGovernance protest of avoiding taking charge of the demonstration against the Nigerian government.

Sani mentioned that, instead of stepping up to lead the protest, they chose to stay hidden and let less privileged children lead the way.

During an interview with BBC Hausa on Saturday, the governor stated that the protest organizers should have been present to guide the youths who exploited the situation to engage in looting.

Sani expressed, ”When we initiated and led the protest at that time, we were the ones who got arrested. We ensured that the youth and other participants who joined the protests were not detained. It was us who faced the arrests.”

“If you are rallying for a protest, it is essential for the leaders to step up and be visible. They were active on social media but were absent during the actual protest,” he added.

“If they had shown up, it would have been more effective as they could have guided the youth away from looting and vandalism. However, they were nowhere to be seen. Neither were their children. It was the underprivileged children who participated in the protest. I do not believe this was appropriate.”
