Governor Oborevwori receives a report on boundary demarcation team from Delta community

Aladja community members in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State have called on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to intervene in the ongoing demarcation exercise between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh, citing a disregard for the governor’s instructions by the state government’s surveyor.

In a protest letter addressed to the governor, the community expressed their concerns regarding the handling of the demarcation exercise.

The letter, signed by Comrade Okakotu Shell GodFirst, President of Aladja Community Council; Apst. Lucky Figbele, Oghuvwie-Ode of Aladja Community; and Mr Reuben Doro, Chairman of Aladja Welfare Movement, highlighted their grievances.

Aladja community raised objections to the actions of the surveyor, accusing representatives of Ogbe-Ijoh of marking disputed land by traversing farms, plantations, Major-General R.M. Dumuje’s Canal, Aladja Grammar School, and Aladja Divisional Police Headquarters.

They asserted that designating the majority of the disputed area to Aladja based on the markings was unacceptable and posed a threat to their heritage.

The community also alleged that Ogbe-Ijoh Community was attempting to influence the implementation of a minority report signed by their representatives in the Prof. A. Ekoko’s panel, a move that could further escalate tensions.
