Governor Namadi Orders ICPC and EFCC to Investigate Misdeeds in Palliative Distribution

In the state of Jigawa, Governor Umar Namadi has instructed the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to be on high alert and take necessary actions against anyone found guilty of misappropriating palliative distributions.

These directives were issued during his speech at the commencement of the distribution of 59,000 bags of rice, each weighing 25 kg, and various grains to disadvantaged individuals across the 287 political wards. The event took place at Dutse Government House.

Governor Umar Namadi acknowledged the delivery of the food supplies for emergency distribution by the federal government, led by President Bola Ahmad Tinubu.

The relief items provided by the Federal Government included 13,825 bags of sorghum, 9,500 bags of millet, 11,500 bags of maize, and 24,000 bags of rice. The state government complemented these with 23,000 cartons of spaghetti, 5,000 bags of rice, 500 bags of sorghum, and 5,000 bags of maize,” the governor announced.

He assured the people of Jigawa State that measures have been put in place to guarantee fair and transparent distribution of the palliative items.

“I want to reassure the citizens of Jigawa State that we have made adequate arrangements to ensure accountability and transparency in the distribution of food supplies provided by both the Federal Government and the Jigawa State Government.”

“Security agencies, including the EFCC, ICPC, and Jigawa State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, have been tasked to stay alert and take necessary actions against any irregularities observed during the process,” he added.

During the event, the Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Dalladi Sankara, mentioned that the beneficiaries were chosen from all 27 local government areas of the state.
