Governor El-Rufai’s wife, Hadiza, has demanded an apology and retraction from social media activists who go by the name North Normal Group over alleged defamatory statements made on Twitter and other social media platforms. The group had criticized Hadiza’s role as the Chairman of Kaduna State Sexual Assault Taskforce, accusing her of endorsing her son’s “alleged gang-rape threat” with her comment of “All is fair in love and war” following his controversial tweet.
Hadiza Bello, through her lawyers, refuted the allegations and insisted that she is not a rape enabler or an apologist for sexual and gender-based violence. She also shared tweets to support her position after reviewing her son’s tweets.
In addition to seeking a retraction and an apology from the North Normal Group, Hadiza also requested key members of the group to post a one-minute video apology on their private Twitter pages within 7 days of receiving the notice.
