Governor Bala Mohammed Criticized by Bauchi APC over Comments on Tinubu

In a recent statement, the Bauchi State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) expressed disapproval of Governor Bala Mohammed’s remarks on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies.

The party suggested that the governor’s criticism stemmed from the Supreme Court’s decision granting financial autonomy to local governments nationwide, a move that hindered what the APC believes was the governor’s access to previously exploited funds.

Fueling Governor Mohammed’s discontent, the party noted the impact of this judicial decision on the governor and his associates, who had been benefiting from these now restricted financial resources.

Following the #EndBadGovernance protests, Governor Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had criticized the president’s policies, alleging that they were exacerbating the plight of the people.

The State APC Publicity Committee Chairman, Malam Saadu Umar, defended the Tinubu-led administration, highlighting its positive impact on both the national economy and Bauchi State. Umar challenged the governor’s accusations, emphasizing that challenges are inherent in governance.

Umar further refuted Governor Mohammed’s blame of President Tinubu for the fuel subsidy removal, reminding him of his past support for the policy during President Goodluck Jonathan’s tenure.

The party commended President Tinubu’s policies for driving economic growth, leading to a substantial increase in Bauchi State’s monthly allocations, totaling over N87.4 billion from January to June.

Accusing Governor Mohammed of fiscal mismanagement, the APC pointed out instances where public funds were allegedly misused, such as vast expenditures on consultants and overhead costs rather than worker welfare and citizen needs.

Lastly, the APC called on President Tinubu and the National Assembly to exclude governors from overseeing local government council elections to ensure fairness and impartiality in the electoral process.
