Governor Adeleke Vows to Enhance Creative Sector at Osun Osogbo Festival

Reaffirming his commitment to revamp and broaden the creative sector in Osun State, Governor Ademola Adeleke has expressed his administration’s focus on developing tourism, entertainment, and craft industries.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, the Governor made this declaration during the climax of the 2024 Osun Osogbo festival at the Osun Osogbo Groove on Friday.

Adeleke emphasized, “Our government is dedicated to overhauling various sectors of the economy. The creative industry is particularly crucial due to its capacity to generate employment and boost internally generated revenue.”

“We are lending our support to the private sector to drive the expansion of the creative sector. This initiative will accelerate the sector’s revitalization.

“The tourism sector holds immense potential for us to explore. Osun boasts a rich cultural heritage as the birthplace of the Yoruba people and the custodian of significant Yoruba cultural assets. We are resolute in our efforts to position Osun as a premier tourist destination nationally and internationally.

“We are pushing forward with our assistance for the enhancement of the Osun Osogbo groove. Last year, we facilitated the restoration of the arena in partnership with the organizers and managers of the site. We supported the stream cleaning efforts and are now considering refurbishing the internal roads within the groove.”

The Governor also extended congratulations to the Ataoja of Osogbo land, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun, for successfully hosting another Osun Osogbo festival.

“Our warmest regards to all Osun Osogbo adherents at home and abroad. We will continue to endorse all cultural festivals as a means for local development and the preservation of our heritage and traditions.”
