Gov Diri: The NYSC Programme Shapes Future Leaders

In a closing ceremony held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Bayelsa State, Governor Douye Diri emphasized the transformative impact of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme on future leaders of the nation.

Governor Diri highlighted the importance of utilizing the experience gained during the programme to enhance skills, knowledge, and foster long-lasting friendships that will be beneficial in the future.

Representing the Governor, Prof. Nimibofa Ayawei, the Secretary to the State Government/ Chairman, NYSC State Governing Board, reiterated that the NYSC programme goes beyond being a mere requirement.

He commended the Corps members for their resilience and unity in overcoming challenges throughout their time in the camp, stating that these experiences will shape their character and contribute to the progress of both the state and the nation.

Reflecting on their journey, he encouraged the Corps members to apply the same determination and positivity in navigating future endeavors, as the lessons and experiences gained during their NYSC service will be valuable assets.

He concluded by emphasizing the importance of dedication, resilience, and a positive mindset in overcoming obstacles, instilling confidence in the Corps members to face future challenges.

In her address, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Okpalifo Obiageli Charity, urged the Corps members to exhibit good citizenship and leadership qualities while promoting national unity, cultural integration, and religious tolerance in their respective places of primary assignments.

She reminded them to prioritize national interests, uphold the values of the NYSC scheme, and maintain a high standard of discipline, diligence, humility, obedience, respect, and commitment to their duties.
