Gombe police capture counterfeit ASP with cannabis, detain 21 others

Arrested by the Gombe State Police Command on Tuesday were 22 suspects, among them 32-year-old David Ochuko and 27-year-old Jibril Sani, for impersonation, conspiracy, and possession of substances suspected to be Indian hemp.

At the command headquarters, the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahid Abubakar, presented the suspects, stating that they were apprehended for impersonating an Assistant Superintendent of Police.

Abubakar revealed, “On the 7th of February, 2024, the suspects were apprehended with six blocks of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

“They were apprehended along Dasa village of Dadin-kowa. They were found with an ASP identity card along with an Army operational cap.”

Also apprehended were Yahaya Abdulkadir, Shuaibu Ahmadu, Musa Hussaini, Usman Haruna, Adamu Munkaila, Abdulmalik Mohammed, Dangunde Abba, Abdulsalam Shehu, Abdulmalik Garba, Ibrahim Yunusa, and Babangida Idris, who were arrested for criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.

The PPRO added that Yahaya Garba had reported being robbed of his Bajaj motorcycle and injured, and investigations led to the recovery of stolen property, including three Bajaj motorcycles, from the suspects’ residences.
