Generous contribution: N15m worth of streetlights donated to Osun college by indigenes

The Esa-Oke Renewal Initiative, a group of indigenes from the Esa-Oke community in Osun State, has generously donated solar streetlights valued at N15m to the Osun State College of Technology situated in the town.

Upon receiving the project on behalf of the state government, Mr. Dipo Eluwole, the Osun State Commissioner for Education, called for collaborative efforts from communities and well-meaning individuals in the state to enhance infrastructure on public-owned tertiary institution campuses.

Eluwole emphasized the need for the institution’s management to harness its strengths, particularly in agriculture, and reiterated the government’s commitment to partnering with stakeholders to provide quality education in public higher institutions.

“This positive initiative in our higher institutions is commendable. The presence of this institution in Esa-Oke should benefit everyone. This organization has illuminated this institution.

“Government alone cannot bear the immense burden of funding education. It requires the collective effort of all stakeholders. Philanthropists, alumni, school management, students, parents, and communities all play vital roles in supporting education.”

According to Eluwole, collaboration among these stakeholders is crucial for the success of public-owned tertiary institutions.

In his earlier remarks, Mr. Wumi Adeniyi, the Chairman of the Esa-Oke Renewal Initiative, highlighted that the project, carried out in partnership with Cedrus Group Africa, aimed to enhance both the college environment and the community’s living conditions.

Adeniyi added, “This project, totaling N15m in funding from donors, features the installation of 50 LED integrated solar-powered streetlights. These lights not only bring illumination to the campus but also improve its functionality, aesthetics, and overall serenity, creating an environment conducive to academic excellence and transforming the landscape beautifully.

It truly becomes a sight to behold at night.”

A statement by the College’s Public Relations Officer, Olufemi Ajilore, disclosed in Osogbo, mentioned the emphasis placed by Chief Dosu Fatokun, the Asiwaju of Esa-Oke, Mr. Diran Odeyemi, the chairman of the polytechnic’s Governing Council, and Dr. Sunday Adegoke, the Rector of the institution, on the significance of peace for fostering growth.
